Vata-Pitta Tropical: Smoothie Recipe + Recommendations For Your Ayurveda Dosha

It’s a tasty, light blend of sweet tropical fruits, cooling coconut water, tangy lime, and fiery ginger.

If you can’t get fresh pineapple or just don’t want to bother with the hit-or-miss ripening process, pineapple can always be bought frozen.

Papayas can be a little harder to find. Make sure you let them ripen! They should be yellow, not green, on the outside.

Enjoy this smoothie for breakfast, lunch, snacks, or as a pre-dinner drink. It’s great for before or after workouts too!

Here’s The Recipe!


  • 1 banana (ripe & spotty)
  • 1 papaya (or 1.5 cups frozen)
  • ½ ripe pineapple (or 1.5 cups frozen)
  • 1-inch piece of ginger
  • ½ lime, juiced
  • 2 cups coconut water


1. Place all ingredients in blender.

2. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.

Customize Recipe For Your Dosha!

Vata – This is an amazing choice for vata! Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before blending. Try to use fresh not frozen fruit. If using fresh coconut water, include the meat if you tolerate fruits combined with fats. Increase ginger to make recipe more warming.

Pitta – Watch the ginger. Otherwise, enjoy, and make sure all fruit is properly ripe. Papaya, pineapple, lime, and coconut water are all excellent for you.

Kapha – This is not the best choice for kapha. Try it, and see how your body responds.
