I had to share this one…
Because I just made it for the first time…
And I’m drooling over it!
Seriously, it’s so good!
It’s not a new flavor combination, by any means…
But it needs to be in your back pocket.
Because, you’ll really enjoy this recipe!
It won’t feel like a chore to drink it because it’s healthy.
No, it’s got a total rich, chocolate flavor…
Perfectly paired with fresh bananas, cherries, and cooling coconut water to balance out the richness.
Have it for breakfast, lunch, or snacks…
It’s probably not best in the evening (unless you’re going out!), since cacao can be stimulating.
Relaxing evening variation: substitute carob powder to keep the chocolatey taste, and ditch the stimulation.
Here’s The Recipe!

- 3 ripe bananas
- 3 medjool dates, pitted
- 2 tbsp cacao powder

Vata – This recipe is loaded with vata-soothing sweet fruits. Feel free to add an extra date or two. If you find the cacao too bitter or stimulating, reduce or omit it. Substitute sweet carob powder. Add an extra pinch of cinnamon or another warming spice to increase heating quality.
Pitta – Cooling coconut water is excellent for pitta. Sweet cherries and dates are also good choices for pitta. See how you respond to the bananas, as they can be warming. I am pitta-dominant, and tolerate them just fine. Cacao is an awesome bitter taste to balance pitta.
Kapha – Cherries are soothing for you. Cacao is a great bitter taste that may stimulate you, and help you move! Feel free to reduce the dates to make it less dense and sweet. Add an extra pinch of cinnamon or another warming spice to increase heating quality.
